Reports
Reporting an incident after a race, what happens next, and what each penalty costs.
If another driver wronged you in a race, you can file a report with video evidence. The accused can accept a penalty themselves, otherwise the stewards decide: those of the community that ran the race, or the platform's for official races. This page covers filing a report, answering one against you, and what a penalty changes.
Filing a report
- Open the race page and find the results of the race session. For a race on an open lobby, open the session from Recent results on your dashboard, or from your driver profile, and select Report an incident instead.
- Select Report.
- Fill in the form:
- Driver: who you are reporting. Drivers who did not start are not listed.
- What happened?: the reason. The Tariff card shows what it costs.
- Lap: the lap it happened on (optional).
- Video link: a link starting with
http://orhttps://, for example a YouTube clip. Required. - Describe the incident: 10 to 2000 characters.
- Select File report.
The report page opens. You find all your reports later under Reports on your account page. Only you, the other driver, the community's stewards and the platform's stewards can open a report. See Account.
When you can report
| Rule | Limit |
|---|---|
| Who | Only drivers who took part in the session, against another driver in it |
| Opens | 4 hours after the session start. Cool down and watch the replay first. |
| Closes | 48 hours after the session start |
| Per race | 2 reports |
| Lockout | If 2 of your reports were rejected in the last 14 days, you cannot file new ones until one of those rejections is older than 14 days |
For a race on the calendar, the session start is the race's scheduled start.
What happens next
The report's status shows at the top of its page.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Awaiting the accused | The accused has 48 hours to accept the penalty or contest it |
| Penalty accepted | The accused accepted. The penalty is applied, no steward needed. |
| With the stewards | Waiting for a steward |
| Under review | A steward has taken the report |
| Upheld | The stewards agreed. The penalty is applied. |
| Rejected | The stewards did not agree. Nothing changes. |
| Appealed | The accused asked the platform to look at the community's decision |
Most reasons start with Awaiting the accused. If the accused does not answer within 48 hours, the report goes to the stewards automatically. Reasons that do not allow self-acceptance go straight to With the stewards; the Tariff card says so when you pick one.
When the report is decided, a Decision card shows the outcome, the time penalty, the Safety Rating penalty, any ban, and the steward's reasoning.
Who decides
A line under the report's title says who judges it:
- The community's stewards decide the reports from their own races and from their open lobbies. Their ban keeps the driver out of that community's races only. In an unranked community or lobby, their penalty costs no Safety Rating, just as its races do not.
- The platform's stewards decide the reports from official races, and appeals. Their decision is final, and their ban applies to every race.
If you are reported
Open the report from your account page. While it is Awaiting the accused, you see Your call:
- Accept the penalty: the Safety Rating penalty shrinks by 25%. The time penalty and the other driver's incident refund still apply.
- Or write your side under Or tell the stewards your side and select Contest. Your statement is shown on the report.
The card shows your deadline. If you do nothing, the report goes to the stewards without a statement from you, and the 25% reduction is gone.
While a report waits for your call, your dashboard shows it at the top.
Appealing a community's decision
If a community's stewards upheld a report against you and you think they got it wrong, the Appeal card on the report lets you ask the platform's stewards to look at it once more. You have 7 days after the decision.
The penalty stays in place until the platform decides. If it overturns the decision, the time penalty, the ban and the Safety Rating penalty are taken back, and results and ratings are recalculated. Either way, its answer is shown on the report and is final.
Penalties
| Reason | SR | Time | Refund | Ban | Self-accept |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Causing a collision | 0.60 | 10 s | 2 | – | Yes |
| Causing a collision in lap 1 | 1.00 | 15 s | 2 | – | Yes |
| Avoidable contact, position gained | 0.40 | 5 s | 2 | – | Yes |
| Unsafe rejoin | 0.60 | 10 s | 2 | – | Yes |
| Divebomb / overly optimistic move | 0.60 | 10 s | 2 | – | Yes |
| Blocking or weaving | 0.30 | 5 s | 0 | – | Yes |
| Ignoring blue flags | 0.30 | 5 s | 0 | – | Yes |
| Gaining an advantage off track | 0.20 | 5 s | 0 | – | Yes |
| Pit lane or pit exit infringement | 0.30 | 5 s | 0 | – | Yes |
| Intentional collision | 2.00 | 30 s | 4 | 14 days | No |
| Insults or abusive chat | 1.00 | 0 s | 0 | 7 days | No |
These are the default values. The Tariff card on the report form always shows the current ones. When upholding a report, a steward can set a different time penalty, SR penalty or ban.
What a penalty changes
- Time: added to the accused's race time. The race is re-classified, which can change positions, season points and ELO across the field.
- SR: subtracted from the accused's Safety Rating at that race, never below 1.00.
- Refund: incident points taken off the reporter's count for that race, which can improve the reporter's Safety Rating change. See Ratings.
- Ban: the accused cannot sign up for races until the ban ends: that community's races for a community's ban, every race for the platform's.
SR penalties and refunds only take effect in races that count for Safety Rating. Ratings and standings are recalculated shortly after a penalty is applied.
Warning
Report real incidents only. Rejected reports count towards the lockout.
