Terms of use

Last updated 28 September 2026

These terms apply to everyone who uses BDR, the sim racing platform at this address, run by Lars Heinrichs ("we"). By signing in, you accept them.

1. What BDR is

BDR lets communities run sim racing events for Assetto Corsa Competizione, and lets drivers find and enter them:

  • races, seasons and open servers
  • signups and splits
  • results and ratings
  • standings
  • stewarding

BDR is free to use. It is a project run in our spare time. We offer it as it is, and may change, limit or end any part of it.

2. Your account

  • You sign in with your Steam account. One account per person. Do not use or share someone else's account.
  • Your display name must not pretend to be someone else, and must not be offensive.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • You can stop using BDR at any time, and delete your account on your Account page. What happens to your data then is described in the Privacy policy.

3. Racing fairly

When you race on BDR, you agree to:

  • race fairly and respectfully, and follow the rules of the series and the community that runs it
  • not cheat. This covers manipulated game files, software that gives you an advantage, and exploits of bugs, of the rating system or of server settings.
  • not enter races for someone else, and not let someone else drive under your name
  • not harass, insult or discriminate against anyone, on track, in chat or in reports

4. Stewarding, penalties and bans

  • Drivers can report incidents. The community that ran the race decides reports from its races; the platform's stewards decide reports from official races.
  • A decision can lead to a warning, a time penalty, a loss of safety rating, or a ban.
  • A community can only ban you from its own races. The platform can ban you from all of BDR.
  • If a community decided a report against you, you can appeal to the platform's stewards once, within 7 days. Their decision is final on BDR.
  • Reports must be honest. Deliberately false or abusive reports are themselves a breach of these terms.

5. Communities and organisers

If you run a community on BDR:

  • you are responsible for your events, your rules, your stewarding decisions, and the servers and machines you connect
  • you must follow the law and the licence terms of the game, and treat drivers' data only as needed to run your races
  • you may not pass on files or settings that BDR marks as for the platform's machines only
  • we decide which communities are ranked or official, and we may change that at any time
  • we may remove events or communities that break these terms

6. Your content

Your content includes:

  • your display name
  • reports, statements and video links
  • community descriptions and links

It must be lawful, and must not break anyone's rights. You allow us to store it and show it on BDR as far as running the service needs. We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law.

7. What we may do

If you break these terms, we may:

  • remove content
  • reverse results or ratings that came from cheating
  • suspend or close your account

We weigh your interests, and usually warn you first unless the breach is serious.

8. Availability

We try to keep BDR running, but we do not promise that it is always available or free of errors. Races can be lost to server, network or software problems, and results can be wrong. We correct what we can.

9. Liability

  • Unlimited liability: we are liable without limit for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act.
  • Slight negligence: we are only liable if we breach an obligation that is essential to using BDR at all. Liability is then limited to the damage that was typical and foreseeable.
  • Otherwise: we are not liable.
  • No liability for others: we are not liable for the content, events or servers of communities.

10. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example when BDR gains new features. We will announce important changes on BDR in advance. If you keep using BDR after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, you can stop using BDR and have your account deleted.

11. Law

German law applies. If you are a consumer living in another country, the mandatory consumer protection of that country still protects you.

If any part of these terms is invalid, the rest stays valid.

Getting started

bdr is a sim racing platform for communities. Communities run races on their own servers; bdr handles the calendar, signups, splits, results, ratings and stewarding. This page shows the first steps for drivers and for organisers.

How it works

  • Communities publish seasons and one-off events. Each race appears in one shared race calendar.
  • You sign up for a race with the car you want to drive. When signups close, the field is split by ELO into groups of similar pace.
  • The community's server lets in only the drivers who have a seat. When the race ends, the server uploads the results.
  • Results update your ELO (pace) and Safety Rating (clean driving). You keep one rating across every community that hosts on bdr.

Note

A community is either a Ranked host or an Unranked host. Races run by an unranked host show results, but they do not change anyone's ELO or Safety Rating. New communities start as unranked. See Ratings.

If you want to race

  1. Sign in through Steam. Your SteamID links you to your entry on the game server and to your results. See Signing in.
  2. Find a race. Select Go racing in the top bar, or Find a race on your dashboard. The dashboard's Open to you list shows only races you are eligible for. See Go racing.
  3. Sign up. On the race page, choose your car and select Sign up. See A race page.
  4. Join the server. When signups close, the race page shows your split, your car number and the server password.
  5. Check your results. Results show on the race page shortly after the chequered flag. Your rating updates on your dashboard.

If something went wrong on track, you can report it after the race. See Reports.

If you want to organise

  1. Sign in, then select Start hosting on your dashboard, or Host an event on the Communities page.
  2. Fill in Start a community (name, URL slug, description) and select Create.
  3. Set up your community. Add your machine and game servers, then create a season with its series, or create a single event. Use these topics:
    • Community setup
    • Machines and Race servers
    • Seasons and series
    • Single events
  4. Select Generate races, then Publish season. From then on, bdr runs each race on schedule: it opens and closes signups, splits the field, assigns your servers and collects the results.

For the organiser's view as a whole, see Organising.
