Communities

Who hosts races on bdr, what each community's page shows, and what Ranked and Unranked hosts mean.

A community is a group that runs races on bdr: it brings its own servers and publishes its own seasons and events. Ratings and stewarding are shared across all communities, so you keep one ELO and one Safety Rating wherever you race.

The communities page

Select Communities in the top bar. The page has two parts.

Section What it shows
Communities The communities hosting on bdr, busiest first, with their description, a Ranked or Unranked badge, how many races they have run, and links to their Discord and website if they have set them. Select a community's name to open its page.
Recent races The latest rated races on the platform, with the host, the number of drivers, the strength of field (SOF) and the winner. Select a race to open it.

"Races run" counts races whose results have been published. The best drivers and teams are on the leaderboards: Drivers and Teams under Leaderboards in the top bar.

A community's page

Each community has a public page. You reach it from the communities page, or from by … under the track on any of its race pages.

  • At the top: the community's name and description, its Ranked or Unranked badge, and Discord and Website buttons when the community has set them.
  • Drive now: the community's open lobbies, when it has one running. Join them the same way as on Go racing.
  • Upcoming races: its next races as cards, with a countdown. Select one to sign up. If there is none, it says Nothing scheduled right now.
  • Seasons: one row per series, newest season first, with the season, the car class and Running or Finished. Select a series to open its standings. See Standings.
  • Latest results: its races with published results, newest first.

Ranked and unranked hosts

Every community is either ranked or unranked. The badge shows which.

Ranked host Unranked host
Results on the race page Yes Yes
Season points and standings Yes Yes
ELO and Safety Rating Yes, if the series has them switched on No

New communities start as unranked. A community asks for ranked status from its own page, and the bdr team decides. See Ranked status.

The badge also appears on each race: Unranked host on a race page means that race will not move your ratings. After such a race, its result shows Unranked · Untrusted host. See Ratings for everything else a race needs to be ranked.

Tip

Racing with an unranked host is a good way to practise a series or try a new community without risking your ratings. Your points in their standings still count.

Hosting your own races

Select Host an event at the top of the communities page to start your own community. Anyone signed in can create one. See Organising and Community setup.
